Will the Ford 6.8l V10 fit into a cortina
« on: December 11, 2011, 09:59:51 PM »

Hi All,
Since Norm showed me a pic of a supercharged V10 some years back i always wondered if they would fit into a cortina, theory says the inline 6 fits and the V10 is 1 cylinder shorter.
So i picked up a 6.8l v10 low k's (60,000) only needs 2 spark plug thread inserts, practically stole it from a bloke on the Gold Coast for 100bux, lmao, while the heads are off i might lower it into the corty engine bay to check clearences, i'll take some pics when i get that far.

Yes its a 1999 6.8l modular engine with the 2valve heads. same rods and pistons as the 5.4l boss motor and same port sizes as the 4.6l in the mustang.

it wont fit, not without a fair bit of mucking around anyway. the modular engine is wider than a big block. btw u dont have to remove the heads to repair the spark plug threads.

now that you know that, you should sell it :D

Lol, if i can stuff the 1uzfe into a cortina, i recon this will fit.....somehow with a 2speed powerglide.

The problem might be fitting this kit...

But i think that will fit somewhere as well

Dont think i will be able to register this one, just a drag skid machine.

Hey guys,
Ohh those headers look sweet, just like the set i put on the xr8 cortina which is currently getting the diff reset.
I removed the factory headers and turned them around to face front, measured up the flangeplate area and space for the turbos and air/water heat exchanger on each side, had to do it all in 24hrs cause the body was of to a fabrication shop for some mods i cant complete, anyway lets say its tight as.
