Building a cortina. Might not be in street machine... :P
« Reply #30 on: May 25, 2011, 08:09:13 PM »

I've had a few set backs, it hasn't changed since the last post... :(  Someone jumped the fence and flogged my BA calipers, I was sick for 2 weeks and after that I had legal issues that required I went to meeting after meeting in the city- which required me staying in Adelaide. I gotta get a wiggle on, or it wont get done....

I pretty much finished off the passenger side floorpan today. Might have a go at getting the trans tunnel out of the donor car tomorrow.

Decided to concentrate on structural repair instead (I don't want it coming back like a dog with a thorn in its front paw) and yay....

Crap.

At least the seat mount is now done :P

Damn that's some scary rust!  :bullshitazza

It's funny you look at the very first photos of it doesn't look too bad overall for rust, but damn!!

I'm really in awe, most people would have walked away, but your sticking with it.  You're not only fixing it but doing a damn fine job of it too.

I see your in Adelaide, if you ever feel like meeting another Cortina tradgic let me know.

I wish you all the best with it, and look forward to the updates  :D

Yeah, I already have it, and it doesn't cost much to keep plugging away at it myself... but if I was paying someone else- I could've bought a finished one! LOL

Anyway...

I won some things on eBay!!

$190 all up, but they're for an R33... I'll make them fit! LOL

I promised the machinist I would get the manifold to him to face when I came to pick up the finished tailshaft... That's thursday, so I had to get a move on it! HAHA!

So I cut all the bends up, cleaned the surface of the manifold flange and got to welding it up. Bear in mind this is the first manifold I've made that wasn't a slap together job for a complete and utter shitbox.... (waiting for corrections) :P

I cut out the old battery tray and I'm mounting it in that vicinity...

Might need modifications here and there in the end, but I have to get in close-ish... Might come up short in the bended pipe department...

A progress shot on the manifold... Trying to leave space for the turbo and passage for the dump pipe makes for lots of head scratching...

I only do a couple of hours every day except sunday, where I go to the regular family dinner... lol.

Manifold is almost done.
