Hey peeps,
after 5 years of looking for a cortina project I finally have one! I got a td wagon dirt cheap as it has no engine with it, but i have a 250xflow sitting in a rust bucket xf ute in my yard that I'm gonna put in it. I also got the sump, oil pickup and engine mounts with the car so it should be straight forward. I plan to rebuild the engine but have never done one before, so any suggestions in regards to cam etc would be mighty helpful. I plan to do the cam and get an aussiespeed holley manifold etc. A top loader would be great too. Ill put up some pics tomorrow, it has a little cancer that I need to cut out but its str8 as.
Cheers, Dave.
Sweet as, haven't seen a wagon on the road in ages..... looks good, the rust shouldn't be to hard to fix, is it just the sills? and is the old ute in the background the motor donor?
Good luck with it...................

Think you pressed the D by mistake there cos that should be an E.
lol I thought it was a td my bad.
Theres a little rust spot in the floor and a decent one infront of the windscreen on the right hand side also. and yea the ute is the donor vehicle, i was going to fix it up but the lh winscreen pillar is rusted out cheers for the replys guys, I will keep posting as the project progresses.
Cheers, Dave.
Hopefully thats all the rust thats in that ol corty of yours cos one of mine is rusting up a bit only cos sections are bare metall and i thought i'd have it in primer by now. Maybe not far down the track i'll have primer on it and then paint not long after that.
If you wanna know what year model your corty is and other info have a look on the compliance plate.
I found some rust in the chassis!
Have a looksy...
Is it fixable? Ill be shattered if its not... Ill have to wait another 5 years to bloody find one
Cheers, Dave.
I got the falcon engine out today, heres a pic..
I just need to get my longreach going and out of the shed so I can start on the bodywork. I plan to do a cut and shut with that rusty chassis rail.
Cheers, Dave.
Mine isn't restored yet but i will be doing something to it sometime in the future. As for chassis rust i'm not sure if its repairable but i do know its the worst place to get rust imo. Better off asking someone on here that knows more about that kind of thing i'm only just learning about things to do with cars so sorry i can't be more help to you with that. If you do have to look for another corty don't get rid of the one you have cos parts come in handy when you need them most.
What are your plans for the engine?
I'm tossing up between a 4brl holley or fuel injection at the moment.. other than that im gonna do the cam, a little head work, a freshen up (rings bearings etc.) I have some genie extractors for it and wanna look into getting a 4speed top loader. Wouldn't mind looking into forced induction as well a little down the track. This is my first build so Im open to any advice / suggestions.
Cheers, Dave.
Well i'm not very handy with advice or suggestions at the moment cos i'm actually very new to car builds/repairs. if you go on one of the other forums you will definitely get a better answer.
I'm in the process of hiding the engine bay wiring at the moment, just wondering if I weld a peice around here...
would there still be enough clearance for the trans? I'm going to relocate the battery to the back and hide as much wiring as I can.
Cheers, Dave.
