Title: 5.0 V8 TE Springs
Post by: Tim9 on May 30, 2007, 08:37:51 PM
I noticed someone mentioned getting springs for a V8 Corty in another thread.

Does anyone know someone who does these?

I couldn''t find a thread mentioning this.

Since no one else had any ideas I rang Pedders today and they said that the springs are similar to the Falcon front springs and to bring one of my existing Heavy Duty Lowered Cortina 6 springs in  and they would be able to match something up to suit from the Falcon range to suit my ride height.

I had heard that they were similar before but I thought that it sounded strange that Falcon ones were very supposed to be pretty much the same.

So I guess I will find out soon.

I''ll add some more to confirm this later.

Try King Springs, they are the go for most people on this site. Maybe a super heavy duty 6cyl set might get you outta trouble.

Falcon front springs will fit straight in. Ive got XE v8 springs in mine, i just had to cut a little bit off them because it sat a bit to high. Maybe if you got sum lowered Falcon springs it would sit at the right height without having to cut them.

Thanks,

That seems to be what Pedders were saying when I rang them recently.

I am also sussing out coil overs from AVO but I am having a bit of trouble getting a picture of them to see how they fit.

Best thing you can do is get the engine and eveything in place then see how it sits.  Some v8's end up sitting back more than hte sixes and put less weight on the front springs and a bit more to the rerar springs so the V8 even though heavy may cause the front to sit higher.

Once you have it together.  Deicde if you want it higher or lower, measure the installed height of the spring take it out and get kings or whoever to test the rate and find out what load it was carying at the height you had it.  They should be able to set you in the right direction from there.

I would think an off the shelf lowered uprated Kings spring would work nicely.  My engine has all the added turbo jubk on there and probably weights as much as a V8 and the 50mm lowered kings work nicely.
