thats look pretty good.  my missus would freak if she opened the freezer and found car parts in there....not unless she keeps meat in your beer fridge/freezer?  i reckon anyone with a cortina has been intimate with a busted axle one time or another.

how come you dont drive it?

Could you grab a measurement of the R31 axle?

End to hub face, end to edge of bearing mounting surface (inner) and length of spline if you could... Cheers!

Not much of a update just what I've been up to ....broken axle after axle, considerd going LSD but I like how a spool handles , not gunna go with the 28 spline falcon/r31skyline axle conversion, with the rate I break 25 splines think I'll be in the same boat  ,putting money to the side to get some billet axle. Few pictures of what I did today

Found some pictures when I rebuilt the motor so added them to my thread, rebuilt it due to 2 rockers ripping out the head, a lifter shot out and 3 bigend bearings went, think I over reved it too much, was intoxicated at the time

So I've fitted a new solid cam, ran it in then removed the engine. Next I'm pulling the engine down to change a couple of things inside , fitting a 5 speed, fitting a 28 spline diff with disks, fitting a manual rack and painting the engine bay .

So I've been concentrating on getting the t5 to fit without cutting into the hump. First I fitted a mustang extension housing, didn't just drop on. Found the issue, it was fouling on the 5th gear. After some grinding got it to fit. Before and after.
(http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff403/winton5/Mobile%20Uploads/CAM00442.jpg) (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/winton5/media/Mobile%20Uploads/CAM00442.jpg.html)

Now looks pretty much the same at the falcon with the same depth.

Made some engine blocked and pulled the motor forward about 25mm, still need to clean them up. Plenty clearance between the water pump and radiator .
(http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff403/winton5/Mobile%20Uploads/CAM00571.jpg) (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/winton5/media/Mobile%20Uploads/CAM00571.jpg.html)

This is where the shifter comes through now. Picture taken with box in 4th gear, will be trimming about 20mm off for I bit more clearance .

about all I did this week was straighten  this and filled some holes in the engine bay. The metal was stretched so was a bit of a pain.

This week only got half way through rebuilding the rack, went to slam it back together this morning but needs some more shims on the pinion. Looks like I'll be heading to the local self serve wreckers this week.

. Progress has stopped on this. I bought a xf ute that needed a quick tidy up. All most done with it now then back into the corty.

I haven't done any panel work in about 15years so it was good experience to clean this up before I start on the cortys body.

sometimes you need these little distractions to pull you away to keep you motivated long term. i just have a habit of getting distracted too soon and before too long have several quick projects on the go.
Title: Re: te s pack
Post by: winton on October 29, 2014, 09:26:40 PM

Yep, this ones a quick project. Haven't put too much effort into it, just a quick cut weld bog then paint.
After that probably going to throw the cortys motor in it, was going to change half the parts in the motor anyway so may as well just build a new motor for the corty.

Yeah maybe fg 4.0 DOHC.
Think it will cost less to build to then a xflow.

Post by: winton on December 10, 2014, 08:11:08 PM
Think I've changed my mind on the fg motor, don't know what I'm going to do, probably will just go with a solid cam xflow.

Got my spoiler today, needs restoring.
Hope to be getting stuck back into the corty around February

This spoiler is off of a s pack.
I don't know is if they were available on any other models.
I have had a look at the options in brochures but haven't seen an option for a spoiler in any of them, so I'm not sure if there were only 500 made for the s packs or it was an option on any other models .

I love the wheels on the ute too!!
Can't wait till its dumped on the bump stops but I need to do a few things to  it before hand.
I'm going to mess around with some air shocks, mount some in the front to the lower control arm and to the body, fit some in the rear and get a small compressor so I can adjust the height. See how it goes and rides like.

yeah awesome. theres heaps of mobs who make airbag stuff for mustangs dirt cheap and it accomodates falcons easy enough. i've seen an airbag system built using a magnum el-cheapo compressor and an old expired fire extinguisher for a tank. was slow and loud but it worked.

make a fibreglass mould of that spoiler and it'll make u rich. they be as rare than unicorn shit. pom and seth efrikaan forums always have ppl chasing them too.

Diff done, something I had been working on for awhile. 28 spline spooled diff 411's. Parts are Corty housing, falcon yoke, skyline r31 axles, carrier out of a commo, and pintara r31 gears.

Yes I remember you mentioned owning #172 and maybe *222 at some stage
Do you remember any of the other numbers that you owned.. would love to see some pics of yours.. I’m trying to document all the S-Packs to keep a record

Yea, 222 was a red spak which i rebuilt and wrote off several times, 172 and 169 were marigold. 1 was complete but a rusted out wreck which got crushed, 169 i think but not sure, the other i sold.
