Hi All
We have contracted one of Americas leading code and integration software specialists to upgrade the website.
This is your chance to have an input in the development of the new site, lets make it a ripper.
List up what you would like to include, layouts, colours, flash or php, etc,
Try to list up some other popular auto web-sites with a good look and feel that we can copy or get ideas from.

aslong as we have decent antispam ill be happy :)
also the ability to upload directly to a post and for it to be saved into your own user gallery would be sweet
and ban dwayne he never does anything LOL

Simplicity is always a good thing, too much bling just makes it harder to use and take longer to load.
A chatbox that is always on the top of the screen regardless of what page you are viewing (similar to that on Performance Forums) would be good...

in the meantime with the spam i added filters so u cant add a username if u have a vowel in it and even thats not working.

that is because your putting the filters into the forum software that does not handle the account info so those filters just get ignored

cant wait for a spam free site guys, it annoys the crap out of me every time i log on (which hasnt been as often lately)
I also agree with pcman on the direct upload idea, itd cut out the middle man.
sarotors.org has a pretty good layout that you might get some ideas from, its nice and simple and seems pretty popular.

Hi Tils, and everyone else,
We actually have java "flash chat" installed on this website, it is just disabled.
But on the new site we hope it we be more integrated and show on each page. I will enable it now , if it still works, lol.
Yeah i know the spam is ridiculous, lets hope it wont be long till its sorted.

Heres my ideas i need your comments please.
Remove geeklog totally as a cms and build around the phpbb forum.
Forums, gallery, chatroom
Revamp the header, update the logo and wording
Below that, use existing cpg-fetch to place random photos from the gallerys to the home page, prolly 5 or 6 across x 2 deep.
Below that, A "Flash Chat" java chatbox with everyone auto logged in, need an option to have the chatbox only working at a minimal size for those using the chatroom at work.
Below that, The 10 latest posts from the forums.
Below that, My messages or website information
Below that, The Footer
Somewhere in amongst all that we need to include some ways of making money, via Google, Facebook, Etc, somehow.. :banghead:

i reckon a way we can stop the spam for the time being is remove the new member sign up option for the time being. i couldnt find the option in the engine room so dave, what do u reckon?

the only way i can find to remove signup also means that no one can login

even if the new membership process is corupted ie: bugger the mail server settings for the confirmation email perhaps.

You can't change it so that every new member must be approved by an admin before they can make a post?

There should be an option to set each new signup for admin approval, i will try that
Also now we have the home page template basics sorted, we need a menu system.
I would like to see under the header, tabbed pages for,
Home/ Forum/ Gallery/ Shop/ Etc, instead of the std left hand side menu.
With a consistent css on all pages. The colour scheme used in the chat room is good, keep site css consisyent with that.
I assume this homepage template would be done in php with placeholders or links to the info.
New tabbed pages could be added by copying the page array string in the config.php file (assuming its php) without requiring a full cms.
Is this the best way to use a template to upgrade or can we getaway with just modifying phpbb with custom headers and plugins?

I also like the layout of the xfalcon site, but simpler is definently better. Im sure the spam wasnt as bad when I first signed up here either

^^^i was viewing who was on line the other day (I think that's what its called ) and as I was reading down the list where everyone was, it said a guest was viewing a private message, is that possible?

posting as a guest is disturbing and the yeah the spam has increased 100fold in the last few weeks. we only used to get the occasional bigger dick ad or sumthing like that but now its 50 times a day.
the ball is acutally rolling in regards to updating. before we had a ppl saying yep they're interested in doing the upgrade until it comes to actual work and then come the excuses. now we've got someone who actually sounds a smidgeon more serious than the others. based on his guess-timation it'll take about a month before it rolls out

Being able to post YouTube/ Vimeo video's in a thread and being able to view them in the post without going to another window would be cool as well.
