Post by: mk2347tf250 on March 12, 2012, 05:26:22 PM
does any one know the best dizzy to use under the aussie speed 4 brl manifold aussie speed weren't much help my elec factory tf dizzy leads have about 3mm clearance between manifold, so removing them or cap involves removing manifold, not fun :(

I'm using a Cain 4 barrel manifold, on a alloy head 6,  assuming yours  is a alloy head to. carnt see there being much difference in room, from Cain to Aussie speed. I have enough room to slide my hand in between the manifold and dizzy. I think I got my dizzy from a xe or a tf ( it was about six years ago now) and fitted a xf cap ,rotor button, and the spacer thing that sits under the rotor button,  then mates to the top cap, if you like I can measures the overall hight ( on the weekend ), and you can compare to yours. If you do switch to xf cap you will also have to change spark plug leads to suit.

it is an alloy head and is also an xe dizzy with female cap and i can only just remove the cap if engine is turned to tdc so i can live with it if there is no alternative , also i previously had a cain 2brl man on the car ,it had a lot more room

ps tf, 250, full man c4, 3.89 shortened borgy, xb bonnet,  recently painted wild violet, will post pics soon waitng for windscreen and time

What's your opinion on the Aussie speed manifold?

I wasn't very impressed with the Cain one I have, I had to repair the threads for the Carby mounting  screws,

the ports were massively undersized, had to remove  a heap of metal out of them ( port matching reasons, guess this is exceptable , but they seemed undersized to me,although I do have to cut open the standard ports on the manifold gaskit as they are to small for the ports on my head)

Plus on the rear of the surface mounting area, I had to remove about 5to 10mm of metal so it wouldn't interfere with air/fuel flow through the carby into the manifold ,if the butterflies opened the opposite way they would of caught on it.

thats a worry. u spend enough money on them as it is and sorta half expect them to be right without spending 20 hours of modifying to suit.

unable to comment as i havent driven car with it on, i havent matched the ports as i was told by aussie speed not to as they have a venturi shape at the end of each runner, to increase air speed in manifold, i am very sceptical on the performance capability of this design but am willing to give it a try, also changed to e85 at same time due to increase in comp, so have lots of things to try inc 255s on rear now its minny tubbed (thanks for the pics whoever did them)

I know what you mean,I bought it from a mate unused, so I didn't pay top dollar, I would of been very annoyed if I had bought it new.

A friend bought the Aussie speed manifold and bolted it straight on and had no problems at all...

I changed to an Aussiespeed manifold 4 barrel after the recent upgrade of my 250. The one I got was their latest one with the damper under the carby mount. The first thing my mechanic said was that the runners needed to be ported, but Aussiespeed said don't touch them, so we did not. I am getting very good results from it coupled with a 570 Holley. I am yet to dyno the car so it is tuned as well as we can do it, but the early signs are great, and compared with the redline manifold and 350 holley there is no comparison.

i am running a quikfuel e85 650 dp and so far ( a burnout in my shed ) it seems fine no more detonation wich sparked the upgrade (paint, mini tubs and fuel change),

if anyone is interested and has a street corty with alloy head the old redline 4 brl man and bg 525 vac r for sale 0408153112 bne

Aussiespeed hands down win but only for engines chasing 300hp and below. Out of the box that is.
