Hey Men.
With the mk3 bush kits on ebay (orange coloured bush's) i assume those will fit the td. The kit made by Pro-Flex , comprises nearly every bush in the front end and is a cheaper than what ive found here.
Has anybody used em or see any problems why they wont work on the Aussie 250 td?

u just need to know if your castor bushes are round or oval. i thought only the early tc's had oval bushes until i found a couple td's with them and have since discovered there was no real hard rule as to who had them and who didnt.
-
Hey Norm
There round. Mines a 74.
Its allready had the castor bushs replaced with nolethane as it chewed em, but that was 5 years ago. Also my tie rods and ball joints replaced at that time look perished so i got the whole lot to look forward too this time. Its not a car i drive often but its great cruising as its so diffrent to everybody else.

I'll try to find the link, but i think that TD had larger diameter bushes in the A arms. Most of the bushes will be the same so it muight still be cheaper to buy the kit, than any additional bushes you need.
-
do u wanna buy a couple of nos genuine upper arms? they come with rubber bushes and ball joints already.
-
i wanna go the harder bushs as id like it stiffer
It might also need a rack yet and other stuff.
I remember you have some parts.
Some of the parts i got for rainydays:
I got a complete front end in panels and single xl roundlight with grill, rad support, also front doors and complete set of glass, some little things like wiper assembly , indicator stalks, xle boot. garnish.

I remember looking this up a couple of years ago when I did the bushes in my TD, this is the site for superpro bushes which ive had no problems with since installing
this first link shows the bushes for Aussie TC/TD

this second link shows the bushes for English Mk3/4/5

there are some differences, oval vs round as norm mentioned, and the aussie 6cyl control arm lower bushes are different.
So, the UK kit might not be that cost effective
-
The kit has round pictured and i have round castor rod bushes.
So lower control arms may be different.
I will look further into that, id find it stange ford Aus would change that.
Sure its not just td and tc have different size?
-
Ok from what i can see both the english and aussie have 14mm id ferrals.
If the issue is one bush is 12.5mm and the other is 14mm then the smaller 4cyl 12.5mm bush could be carefully drilled out to take my current 14mm metal ferrals.
However it might just be ferrals are diffrent wall thickness as its giving inside mesurements.
What do yas recon?
I still got to see there postage costs from England also.
So basicly im suggesting because that bush is smaller possibly with a 12.5mm instead of 14mm id just drill it out slightly and press in my metal ferral tube from my current bush. Bassicly moddify that bush. However it might just be diffrent metal tube thickness, the odds are in my favour as it at worst a small inside dia that can ne opened out.
Im not seeing any outside dia diffrences in the bushes.
-
forgot to mention before that i know a couple of ppl who used the orange kits and had no problems with them whatsoever. if anything they came with spare bits they didnt know where they were from.
-
Ok well ill give them a go. They seam like good value.
Cheers guys.
Don.

I always thought TC and UK are very similar, whereas TD had many differences.
I've read that during testing the first 6's destroyed the front suspension over bumpy roads, so Ford changed the bushes for the TD. Apparently a lot of little things were changed on the TD for aussie conditions, like the window winders and glass are different between TC and TD.
Norm: You said a few people used the bushes, do you know if they were TC or TD?
-
2 td's that i know of.
other than castor bushes i'm didnt know of any other component differences but i do know that the mk3/tc/td k frames are all different. does the kit come with kframe to chassis bushes? if so they're the same from mk3 to tc but different from tc to td.
