hi all, new to this stuff, i need a bit of help! i have a 75 td ridgy 4cyl auto and want to put a 4.0l manual in it. my question is, is there a difference between the 4 and 6 k frames, cause ive seen other people do this conversion and by the looks of my engine bay and other pics ive seen,im worried that if i start cutting the old engine mount brackets off i might be left up shit creek with a f#@ked k frame, it seems that other ppl have done a 6-6 swap by there pics, thanks any help would be much appreciated

great idea for the conversion, i know someone who's done the exact same thing and it works well. the kframe is the same from a 4 cylinder to 6 cylinder in a td. u dont need to cut the engine mount brackets off as they unbolt so if u bugger it up just grab another pair and bolt them on. u will however need to chop out your radiator support panel to take the 6 cylinder radiator and move your transmission mountings in the tunnel.

thanks for the help, i belivieve a phone call to my panel beater brother is in order for the trannie mounts, the rad support un bolts but my engine mounts are welded to the k frame, hopefully the pics ive up loaded show the deatial im talking about, its the reason i ask the question cause your right all the other cortys ive seen engine mounts are bolt on. o and by the way ive done some snooping and very nice (black betty)
-
so it wont let me post pic saying they are to big and ive got no idea how to do it any other way
-
engine mounts can be welded on or bolted,i have both types of k frame
-
i can give u the 6cylinder mounting brackets to weld/bolt on if they're different to the 4 cylinder. if u'r in high wycombe perth then i'm only up the road in gosnells.

that would be awsome ya wouldnt happen to have a six cylinder sump pan from a corty for sale by any chance
-
chances are good i'll have one spare. if not i have a couple of wrecks with engines in them.
-
that would be great if i could get that do ya wanna organise a time thats convenient that i could come see ya about those parts if ya wont to send me your details and i can get in contact with you. i have another question, what do you do about the oil pick in the sump, cause it looks like if i turn the sump around it will foul the low side of the sump pan?
-
use a modified cortina pickup or depending on how u do your sump, make one from scratch
-
cool thanks
