Title: bid difference
Post by: brentm on March 06, 2013, 02:25:42 PM
Ive finally finished my upgrades to my 72 Mk3 1300.I bought a 1600 and box ,and have fitted a webber twin carb and manifold, cobra freeflow exhaust and a 3.39 diff.the ratio is about perfect,I can tool around  town in third up to 60 kph comfortably and at 100 kph revs sit on 3000 rpm.shes got some nice power now when I put my foot down. Its a really nice car to drive now.were getting to the end of summer here but im hoping to get a coat of paint on her before winter to get her looking really good.

Hey, that sounds a sweet ride, but the revs seem high at 100k's, whats your redline limit?

I thought the revs were pretty good ,my 186 with 13 inch wheels and 5 spd toyota box sits on 3400 revs at 100km in 4th and my corrola 1600 used to sit around the same at 100km in 4th,they both dropped down to around 2800 revs in 5th gear.I dont know what redline would be its not a factory rev counter. At 100 kms the cortina doesnt sound like lts over reving, another gear would be nice but shes humming along nicely.

The improvements have also improved the fuel economy with the 1300 motor it was doing 25/26 mpg now with 1600 its doing 28/29 mpg or 10.9 kms/lt round town and did one trip average 100 kph she did 31mpg or 11.5 kms/lt
