Title: Power Steering in a TD
Post by: Constructacon on October 13, 2007, 08:10:02 AM
After a bit of a search around I haven't been able find anything about putting power steering in a TD Corty. Has anyone here done it and if so what was required to do it?

u have to get a power steer rack from a mk4 or 5 from nz or england. they bolt straight in. depending on which engine u have it wouldnt be too hard to mount a pump. a couple of custom hoses and u'r away.

That's TE or TF in local money isn't it? I thought I saw one of those on ebay recently.

yeah it's sorta te/tf. austrlalian te's and tf's are different to a mk4&5. the nz and poms retained the mk3 unboltable front end right thru and the later models came with power steer :)

i dont have it done but a mate of mine has. i wont be seeing him for a cupla weeks so if u'r patient i will get photos for u. well as best as a i can anyway cos i dont think there'd be too much visible underneath the v6.

Thanks for that. Any photos would be appreciated.

Just so I'm clear on what you're saying :MK 4 or 5 power steering would work, but TE/TF power steering wouldn't. :sigh:

thats right. mk4 and mk5 front ends are different to Te and TF. you need a rack from a mk4 or 5.
