Title: Charging trouble
Post by: braddyxe51 on February 02, 2008, 12:12:25 AM
Hi, I have a TE corty 250. My problem is that it doesnt charged have traced it to being the excitor. What I need to know is there any fuses or relays that would stop power for getting to the alt. Has any one had this same thing to happen. Also the light in dash for alt hasnt been working for a long time does this have anything to do with it.

The charge light circuit also creates the field for the alternator.  If your charge light bulb is blown then the alternator will only charge when the revs are high enough for it to create its own field.

If you turn the ignition on without engine running your charge light should come one.

When I turn to on there is no light. I thought this may have been the problen but I wanted to be sure before I started pulling dash apart. The glob has been out for ages but if im only driving during day it will drive all day but when got lights on nothing else works then motor starts struggling when turn lights off then runs fine so have to drive in dark, not good.
