Has anyone got any info on fitting a 4 litre from an EL Falcon into a TD?

Ask Norm (aka Tara Hymen) he has....

PS . . . ADMIN TEAM, can you guys please post a note on the main page about the 4.0L conversions. As people continue to ask the same questions over and over. You have members that have completed conversions into both the main body shapes now... So there is more than enough info to assist people in this task.

Further to your suggestion TE_JET...

May be a thread could be started with a tutorial type arrangement.
I'm sure that between here and the Ford Aus forums there are enough wizards who could co-ordinate a step by step method and some enterprising fellow might offer to supply some of the fabricated parts for a suitable financial compensation.
As has been stated, this is not a totally impossible conversion and to have all of the info organised in one place would be to everyone's benefit.
Sort of a petrol heads Wiki pedia.

Can anyone give a quick answer to the following regarding dropping the 4 litre EL motor into my TD 200 Auto?
1. Inlet Manifold and fuel rail to Heater box clearance
2. Sump mods: Cut and shut standard EL /use something else
3. Standard TD radiator or EL Radiator

1. el inlet manifold will hit the heater box. i havent seen one yet that runs a heater box so i dont by how much or what would have to be done to run it.
2. cut in half a cortina and falcon sump. weld the 4.0L bolt pattern to the lower cortina section/sump. if u ask corty80 nicely he has photos of his he did recently.
3. TD radiator wont cope as they have less rows per inch than a falcon radiator and the falcon radiator only JUST copes with a 4.0L anyway. my radiator was custom made otherwise if you want sumthing off the shelf there is a crowd who make good alli cortina radiators for v8's but i cant remember thier name - desert sumthing. get them to make you one with the outlets where you want them and u'r away.

did i send you a pm with my phone number?

Hi and welcome to the forums, Tarahymen (Norm) is the guru on this conversion, he's done a couple of tutorials regarding the conversion. The first is regarding the engine mounts. Heres the link.

Norms actually working on a tutorial regarding the conversion and other sugested upgrades but when he posted it the other night the website locked up and he lost the lot.
Something we are working on.....Sry Norm.
