Hey everyone, My name is Matthew, i''m from Victoria Canada.. west coast. I''m a Mech ENGR student At University of Victoria of course. I build FSAE cars and do all my own work on my cars.
I own three Xr4tis.. which are seirras bassically with 2.3 turbo motors. however i''m getting a 1970 2 door mk2 deal pending..
I just thought i;d say hi!
Also i LOVE all the emoticons you guys have! hahahah. i already love this site! SOOOO
the Mk2 has some rust in the front right wing. it has 55000miles on the engine. with a nice weber down draft carb 1600 cc Auto. Plans for now is a daily driver untill i get my Merkur on the road(next semester) then work on the Mk2 begins...
i have a few motor options.. a EFI 5.0  my buddy has one in a mk1,, i''m not all that impressed. a 4.0 v6, a newer motor put not realy that much after market. Taurus Sho 3.0 V6, bad ass motor, but heavy. 2.3 Ford turbo.. very very strong bottom end, cheap..... and the motor which i REALY want.. a 2.0 yb cossie motor.
i think the cheapest would have to be the 5.0, but aint realy the best choice. i will see what happens.. the SHO motor is nice, but its FWD and the adapter plate is expensive.
one more thing, i dunno if it is even posible to fit in the car, a 4.6 Mod motor,, my buddy has a 4.6 32v motor with auto trans for 1000$ canadian..
also this is a 1600 auto.. what trans is this? FMX? c4, c3, jatco?
i will see what becomes of this car.. right now its street duty. later it could become dedicated strip car cause the Merkur will be daily driver and Auto cross/ rally cross.
Thanks every one.

hmm,, i forgot about that.. that would probably be one of the best options, a 2.3 turbo.. umm.. if you seriously want me to look into it. i can. what level of motor are you looking for.. stock rods and pistons are good to 500 whp. stock head can only support 378 whp, that was at 28 psi. umm to get an idea of the set up your looking for check out TURBOFORD.NET and the BS section check the combo Sticky...
my 2.3 has big SS vavles, rollar cam set up, bored 30 over, JE pistons, polished crank. and i''ll be building megasquirt efi system as i have some experience with them. turbo wise i''m gona stick with something small, a e50 t4 compressor i think, i''ll be making my own intake and headers.
ok enough of that. assumeing i get this corty, a I6t would be pretty damn cool, possibly we could figure somethign out. If you serious send me a PM or email me at matthewz@uvic.ca

Hey Matthew,
Welcome to the Fordcortina.com.au website.
PcMan was correct in saying you got some nice toys lying around.
Not sure if our I6T will fit in a corty without having the larger falcon style trans tunnel.
Post up some pics in the Gallery, so we can get a look please.

The same 2.3/2.0 Lima engine was used in our Tango Tango and Sierras from 1974 until 1994!! Our versions were powered without turbo- :(

Welcome Matthew,
In regards to the auto, FMX was used in Falcons and Mustangs and may have been used in F series trucks (?), C4 would be the same. Jatco was used in the VL commodores in Oz (GM/GMH) not sure what else used in. The C-3 or Bordeaux Auto was used in 4 cylinder cortinas and Borg Warner was in the Oz 6 cylinder cortinas.
In regards to I6T I assume you mean the factory fitted Inline 6 turbo from the BA onwards Falcons here in Oz. These wont fit in a Mk2 without so serious work, not even sure if the enginebay is long enough to fit it. Also you may have trans tunnel issues also.
