Hey guys,
I know this is my first post so fairly inappropriate but,
I hadn't heard of these cars or paid them any attention until recently.
i've fallen in love with the way the td looks,
and after reading fairly minimal amounts of info on them i've decided i have to get one.
I am still on my red p's so I cannot have a v8 converted.
but yes just wondering if anyones selling heard of anyone selling a registered td xle cortina,
also what prices should I be expecting to pay for one?

Hey, i can't disagree with you, the TD is a sexy car, that's why i've had a few haha. But I hope you have better luck finding one then me, i spent months searching and eventually had to settle for a half finished rolling shell and fix it up, but at least i got to do it how i wanted it. But i'm in perth so everything is harder to find over here. Your best bet is just to check ebay, carsales, carsguide, local paper etc. until you see something you like. As for how much they cost, i'm not sure, but a couple of grand should get you a decent example.

thanks =D
yeah thats one thing i noticed they hardly exist.
I think I have about 3 grand currently saved.
Any idea on what sort of age issues I am going to have with one of these, just the normal wear and tear that needs replacing?
I have a 6 month suspension coming up, so the sooner I get the car the sooner I have 6 months to work on it.

where are you located? there's a few on carpoint atm. bit more than 3k though

i'm in newcastle nsw.
and yeah,
should I be expecting 5-8 grand for a very average condition 76 cortina?

How much is a TD Cortina worth? Big big can of worms that one!
Depends what you want and how far you are willing to go. There's been some good original TD's for sale in the past couple of years, anywhere from about 3-10k (I don't think the ones at 10k sold though!) If your after an original example of one, in good condition, you'll pay a premium. if you don't mind a fixxer upper, or one thats been modified, look at about 2-5k, I bought mine for less than 1k, but it needs lots and lots and lots of work! So, then factor in resto costs ( most TC/TD's came with factory rust!), which could be in the 10's of thousands, on a car that would be worth not as much if you wanted to sell!
Try to find one thats complete, as parts are getting harder to find. Just be patient, and as xle said, look in every paper, magazine, internet site, swap meet etc, and don't limit yourself to local ones.
good luck!
