hi
im in the first 3 months of my interpretation of how cortinas should of been built.
im using methods that others have come up with and alot i have thought of and wish to share.(im open and welcome comments and advice)
the shell is still in a raw form atm but is coming together nicely so far.
i have decided to start on the engine bay and work my way back.
so far i have done the engine mount which is a crude cmrs kit,
reinforced the chassie rails and made the gearbox cross member.
modified a falcon xd booster and falcon hyd clutch master cylinder

the booster was easier than i first thought, the bottom left hole lines up with the bottom stud on the xd booster then i just made up some gussets and bobs ya uncle
(http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae125/j_brooks81/ford%20mustina/IMG_4505.jpg)
the clutch master cylinder i decided to recess in the firewall to give a better angle to the pedal, i done this by cutting a picese of 75mmX20 rhs, dose the job and looks ok i think

that looks impressive :)

thanks big norm,
in the middle of tubbing her now, not as fun as i thought i would be.
and not to mention my new brake master cylinder came in the mail yesterday
and it dont fit under the bonnet. that all came together to easy. now im just working it out, i think i got it now. ill post some more pics soon. :banghead:
-
today i started and finished the passenger side rear wheel tub.
i reused the same tub. I just cut and moved it and ran a piece in the void,
not the most comfortable place to weld but a bit of time and a few jd's and i managed to do it,
(http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae125/j_brooks81/ford%20mustina/IMG_4541.jpg)

then began the task of redesigning the brake booster bracket to fit the master cylinder under the bonnet.
i have not finished it but i have played with a few idea's shouldn't be too hard to rectify.

I also picked up a 6cyl TC XLE for $350.. and u wouldn't belive it i got another 9"+ housing with that one. it was out of an F-100 but i might get it mad to suit the corty
(http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae125/j_brooks81/ford%20mustina/IMG_8257.jpg)
anyone who would like to buy a 250 with auto box or a 2L with auto let me know they both run and i can start them for you.

just so there was no risk of the rails deforming i cut 2 sections out and seem welded the floorpan to the rail, this give u a better patform to weld to later also.

OH HELL YES!!!!! love the tunnel rammed cortinas, I will hopefully start mine this year but TF with rammed clevo, I'm glad you said that the 10.5's fit in the tubs moved to the chassis rail, I have waved the measuring stick around mine and I thought it would fit but glad you confirmed it for me, your doing a great job, looks good.
Cheers
-
thanks,
if anyone needs any measurement just let me know i would be happy to help anyone,
I am after a neat set of xle door trims pref black with wood grain.
I got parts, but more looking at doing a trade but will buy the right set.
-
Man, those tubs ended up heaps neater than mine ever did. Great job there.
-
Nice work there mate. was thinking of tubbing mine but i think i can get the 225 convo's in the stock tubs.
-
impressive
-
Looks grate! How you go setting up that ratchet shifter? I put one on a mates car years ago, was a prick to setup, had to resort to reading the instructions!

Just doing what i done i can fit 10.5 inch slicks under her now,
not that big of a job to be honest,
thanks everyone for your comments, sorry if i don't get on much lately
I managed to crush 2 vertebra and fractured 3 ribs at work back in November 2011. and i have been bed ridden since then so the poor old corty has been put on the back burner,
oh' and the renagate shifter was pretty easy to fit, real nice shifter i can't wait to slam them gears :drive: at the end of this year, that's if i don't go broke in the meantime its wrong how you get treated when you injured from making other people rich, they seem to think they can toss you away after the break you like your some shit Taiwanese tool, Not this little black duck!
cheers, :shite:
-
still no more progress to report.....
I am still broken cant do much still, soon as I get better I will hopefully have some progress to post up.
