What are peoples views on the UPC brake up grade kits???
« on: January 06, 2012, 11:25:01 PM »

I recently brought a UPC kit off ebay, and after reading a few articles on them
i thought id discuss it here, there are some bad things written regarding these callipers, but when you look at std tc cortina front brakes UPC have gone over and above compared to the stock grilock system on cortinas,
Yes the kits lack a few things like dust caps over the bearing, and spring washers but for the price ill supply my own, as for the machined face of the callipers, looking at it structurally im sure it would pass any test as much as any other calliper with similar style and size,
The actual calliper mounting bracket looks more solid than the hopperstoppers ones.

if anyone knows if these discs and pads are a stock replacements can you let me know what they are,and what the calliper is off?  i would be appreciated.

cheers, here are some picks of them.

Hi, i have both kits installed on 2 cortinas, the 1uzfe has the hopper kit and the xr8 cortina has the upc front kit. the upc kit looks stronger and more beefier compared to the factory items used to complete the hoppers installation, although both cars arnt on the road yet for testing, give me 6 months and ill let you know the ourtcome.

one of the things I have found with these kits is the the dust cover over the bearings is not a standard replacement job as UPC :bj told me, It looks as if the just turned out the bearing hole and just neglected to worry about the dustcover step-in.
If anyone else has any feedback on this kit let me know what you think. Cheers.

The people that have installed the upc setup what is your opinion on how good they actually work. Pedal feel and noise etc. I've seen a fair few go for around the $700 mark and as low as $500 for unused 2nd hand ones on other sale sites..
