Stiffer front springs for 302 v8
« on: December 08, 2014, 07:38:31 PM »

Hey guys got a quick question. Since I just sent my stub axles off to be modified for my brakes I want to upgrade the front springs n shocks.

My motor is going to be a 302 windsor stroked out to 347 with C4 box. The car was originally a 4 cyl so im going to need to replace the shocks n springs to handle the extra weight.

What have others on here done in this regard as Im keen to hear what setups you have gone with.

Cheers

Matt

a windsor is only 30kgs heavier than a cast iron head crossflow so unless you want it sitting high just about any cast iron 6 cylinder spring will do the job. i ran pedders springs in one car and lovells in another and i reckon the only difference between the two was colour as they both handled exactly the same. if u like your ride stiff then use pedders sports ryder shocks otherwise once again any shock will od the job.

Thanks Norm. By the sounds of it I may not need to change a thing. Picking up a dummy block and heads tomorrow to start fitting extractors so will be able to see how she sits then.
