Mk2 Corty with BMW 320i everything...
« on: January 02, 2014, 09:19:53 PM »

This is my first post and I'm glad this forum exists so I can!!

I have a Mk2 Coupe thats been built n ripped apart then rebuilt by the previous owner and was in a bad state when I went to pick it up. Front 2/3 is rust free, but the further I dug the worse the rear end turned out to be! I ripped the dodgy guard extenders off one side to find shocking rust and the original wheel arch cut off!! This pissed me off as I love the rear arch shape. I cant find any new ones anywhere?!?! Any ideas?
On another note.... I also have a 1989 BMW 320i (2lt straight 6) convertible that I had planned to rebuild. Had a random thought the other morning as both cars were about the same size to put the complete rolling stock from the BMW under the Cortys body. Out came the tape measure and much to my surprise they are almost identical in wheel base, track, front chassis rails and engine bay!! Saweeeet!!
Does anyone know of another build like this? I've searched and searched but found nothing.... Please help with your thoughts or some direction.

Cheers!!

I'd like to see that! I can't imagine an inline 6 fitting in the engine bay without cutting it up though.....
