you have to pop a ball joint to remove them  and also the strut rod and swaybar linkage

pretty much undo everything

I changed mine a while ago and manage to get them out without popping the ball joint as that sucker would not come off at the time.
It was a total bitch though and I had to use spring compressors in a number of ways to do it. Plus jacking the car up and down to give clearance to get the spring out.

If you can get the ball joint off easy do it that way. (much easier) :)

How did you go?

To drop a ball joint, crack the nut, take it only half off the protect the thread, find the biggest hammer you can get your hands on and hit the fuckin thing, perferable on the stub axle.

If you drop the top ball joint you should be able to pry the old springs out and slide the new ones in.
