Car Story
« on: February 13, 2012, 11:25:28 PM »

G'day all, my Cortina's got pole position in the garage at the moment but out back theres another one, not a 'tina but closely related... my first car, it was 16 years old when I got it and on the weekend I'd had it for 16 years, a bit of a milestone.... on an apprentice wage my old man lent me the money to buy a car, on the first sign of trouble it was to be SOLD... I learnt alot about rust, but a couple of weeks later I found a one owner escort but better still an Escort RS2000. I got it home and went straight out to pick up my best mate, finally with a new set of wheels we were free,  we got to the first set of traffic lights, "lets see how fast it'll go"  First gear! Chirp! Second gear! Third! Flash! Speed camera!  I'd gone from joy to panic in under half a second, "I can't afford a fine", "the cars not even in my name yet" & better still "wait 'til the old boy finds out!" "Better talk to Mum" it was decided that I would call the old owner, tell him to send the fine through, which he thought was hillarious and never speak of it again....
I've still got the car, out back, its on its third rebuild, but thanks to everyones favourite online auction site I now have a pile of nos parts to make it better then ever... and on the weekend, 16 years later I finally told the old man about that speeding fine......
