TC Racecar - Historic Touring cars
« on: June 29, 2009, 07:23:21 PM »

Currently campaigning a pretty slick Mk2 GT in Historic Touring Cars, been itching to get to the front of the grid so have decided to develop a 2.0 liter TC Cortina.
Looking for all the help I can get, know absolutly zip about the car other than the engine, so if you can offer any suggestions "I'm Listening"
For those not in the know the car has to be almost 'As bought' with minimal enhancements. Can do a bit with the engine, must stay NA on Carb's but reckon on 230+ HP, suspension and set up is the area to make the maximum gains.
So Guys 'n Gals if you can help, let me know.
PS - have the Car ' 71 L Auto

I can tell you its a boat compared to the MK2 but has a better wheelbase.

Lower it, bigger tyres on rear 225 and 205 front, 26mm swaybar front. Most important thing is to get camber adjustment otherwise its a waste of time racing these things.

Assentric lobes/bolt in the lower arm is easy to do and hide.

Setting the car up to the track your on and getting some good tyres (are you allowed racing tyres?) is a good place to start.

Camber adjustment some good tyres and a wheel alignment will put you ahead of the compition. Cheers Steve

Thanks mate, yes with the lower CofG as well it should be made to handle ok, very similar to a Torana underneath. Yes can use "Road Legal" race tyres to 60 profile. Use 205R60x13 on the Mk2. Thanks for the tips.
