Heater Boxes
« on: August 22, 2007, 08:41:01 AM »

Ok, everyone has some sorta problem with a heater/demister box, wether its been removed , dont work or its gunna be in the way of an engine transplant.
So, i contacted a custom heater manufacturer and asked him to work with our club to produce something suitable which will suit our needs.
Below i have pasted the email i sent and his reply.

Hi,
I am the admin for a car club, fordcortina.com.au and we had a need for a small heater/demister unit to fit in our various model cars.
Most of the original units have been removed due to fitting the later model 4litre engines or some sorta reasoning similiar.
We could deffinitely sell several units if i advertise them on the website and several forums which we are affiliated with.

Would you be interested in working with us to achieve a desired unit, we could make a members car available for measurement/testing etc if required.

Regards
Dave Hill

G'day Dave
Thanks for your email.I sure we can accommidate your needs.I presume that you found us via ebay, where I have been selling these units. It doesn't matter anyway, you found us.
The heater boxes are all hand made out of 1mm gal  and is fully servicable. The heater core is a 3 core band new assembly,we offer the standard demister type with the 2 round outlets or we can add eyeball vents and rectangle louvred vents. They come in a single speed fan and also in a 3 speed fan (which is mounted externally on the box and can be a bit bulky if room is very limited)The 3 speed heater box is our main seller for the hotrods and sleeper cabs and understandingly are more exspensive than the single speed.
I would be more than happy to help you guys out and work along side you all to get the required result.Judging by you website you guys aren't just tyre kickers.
Feel free to contact me anytime if you need any questions answered.
Thanks for your email and look forward to speaking to you

Ok,
What im thinking and need to know if it will work.
Use the existing controls in the dash, the top heat/cool control can be attached to a heater tap to control the water flow through the heater tubes.
Blank off the vent holes that come through in the engine bay, the one on the passenger side and the one in the middle at the back of the motor.
Mount the new heater/demister box behind the glovebox or somewhere in that area and run some flexible duct from the heater/demister box outlets into the existing cortina heater/vent pipework. This should allow the existing lower controls to choose between vents and demister areas and allowing the air to flow in from the new heater/demister unit.
I know theres a flap thats not been accounted for, this is for the fresh/recirculated air. If its required at all.

Bucster.
Come on peeps throw in some ideas.

if its small enough you could sit it in the entry hole (flap) behind the motor where the air goes in from factory.
