Cortina Nationals Cancelled
« on: February 08, 2012, 12:09:18 PM »

reading from elsewhere on the net it seems the cortina nationals to be held later on this year have been suspended/cancelled.

it appears thru a few narrow-minded people that something simple has turned complicated and worst of all political.

i stand corrected, apparantly its still going ahead but with a change in the committee organising the whole thing. the website is down at the mo so there is nothing current nor an indication of where to find the required info.

shit is hitting the fan over the whole affair and there is talk of a boycott etc etc. not sure if i'd book and pay for anything at this stage until details can be confirmed.

this from elsewhere on the net:

Hi All

_*YES YES YES

THE NATS ARE ALL GO I REPEAT ALL GO
*_
Just received entrant number 141

I do not intent going into who said what but it was decided that the Cortina Mark One Owners Club of Vic would take over the running of the Nats from the sub committee

It should be noted that this was done at a General Meeting of the club, and the motion moved by a non Member of the Sub Committee

It was carried by a vote of 36 to 5

The next day the Committee was banned from the Cortina Mk1 Forum and there fore unable to reply to posts denergrating the Comittee

The Nats site was shut down, the Cortina Mark Owners Club site shut down

So its been very difficult to communicate the news

BUT I REPEAT IT IS DEFINATELY ON

There will be a mail out to all entrants confirming this

_IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THERE ARE 141 ENTRANTS BUT SOME ARE BRINGING  2 OR 3 CARS SO AT PRESENT THERE ARE ABOUT 160 CARS COMING

1st Cortina Nationals 2012 definitely still on.
« Reply #7 on: February 09, 2012, 08:22:31 PM »

G'day Guys,
My name is Tim Tracey am I am the President of the Cortina Mk1 Owners Club.  I would like to say that the 1st Cortina Nationals is definitely still going ahead and organisation is well under way, with only the finer details to be finalised.  There are details on Facebook (2012 Cortina Nationals) and at the moment you can ask questions and get information there.  The sabotage of our club website and the closing of the Nationals website has been disappointing, to say the least.  The rubbish that is being said on other forums, (that we have been banned from) is exactly that, rubbish and due to our banning from the sight we can't tell the whole story.  The truth will prevail and the both sides of the story will be heard and then everyone can make an informed decision on what went down and where to go from here.  Thanks for your time and I would ask that people refrain from making comments with out all the facts.
Thanks again.

If we still had a website we could still get info to interested people.  Due to the vindictive people on another site, both the Cortina Mk1 Owners Club and the Nationals website were shutdown.  Facebook is a short term fix to still have a contact point for the Nationals.  Grow up people, this is getting serious.

tracey; i respect your comments but we're not idiots. correct me if i'm wrong. u mention vindictive ppl on another site. didnt u just tell the vindicitive owner of that site that they werent welcome? they're ideas are no longer welcome? and that everything they have done so far is appreciated but no longer neccessary?

u tell your boss he's an asshole, no more job. you tell your landlord he can stick it; no more house. you piss off your web host.......well suck me dry and call me dusty, no more website or forum. were u expecting a reacharound?

i'm really sorry but thru pure politics, manipulative behaviour, and a desire for unwarranted credit u'r club and its bullshit have destroyed an event which could've been something special and reshaped how the cortina community interact in the future.
