my 393 TE Cortina buildup
« on: March 31, 2012, 12:43:23 AM »

Hi guys (and gals of course) Thought id let everyone see what im doing to a TE cortina ive been working on for too long now. Im sorry dont know how to post pics so follow the link below. It was going to be a 4.0l but a mate said Ive got a Clevo sitting at home getting dusty. That would probably be easier to "drop" in, and the whole thing just grew from there. I hope to get rego (302) and have it finnished by All Ford Day this year (fingers crossed very tightly). Hope you like.http://imgur.com/Wt3hr,faN7W,cBzsz,LarGd,QoCUF,D9R3S,tHtXn,AQIrc,OzZAI,lzT53,Mlfaj,1KJlk,OabXI,Wv4nL,Spt4C,UPV9r,snaSI,Cu8WI,ODvNd,9gF5m,krNeE,wHFDw,xB5uM,gQLHP,c0s6M,uDNVr,J7zxy,dNtcS,gzAxe,3xTTf,t8AKt,jFWUG,Hlh2l,VUd2d,jwFE2,nBqLy,dIjQi,0IWrC,HvuUu

Looks good, if you get it rego'd can you let me know whats required because I'd like to do the same with a TF but thought it might be a bit hard now days.
Cheers

in Perth you need to get permission in writing before you start anything (I got mine nearly two years ago not sure how they would be with the idea now) then its engineers report emmisions test (still might have to go straight gas) noise test, brake fade and stopping distance, speedo check for gearbox change. ive used hoppers for brake 5 stud upgrade castlemaine conversion kit and spoken very nicely to the man on the other end of the phone. Largest engine is 357ci but go 302 for more posibility of getting required permission and unless you really want a clevo go windsor (more aftermarket parts available to keep costs down)google vsb 14 to find out all you can do to modify a vehicle and stick as close to that as you can.what state are you in? : :beer

Thanks mate, I'm down in Albany so thats why I am intersted in your build, the build permits only last 2 years as far as I'm aware and passing the emissions test nowdays with a clevo unless gas like you mentioned is like pushing shit uphill, if E85 was readily availiable here I would consider doing a clevo on that for sure, I might just stick to a 250 for the street car and clevo for the race car, cheers for the info.

yeh ive just mailed off my request to extend. Because i already have permission im hoping it wont be a problem,as for the emissions im a bit worried about that. Gonna have to wait and see. 250 is a much easier option for rego and from what ive read on the forums here there getting some pretty high hp figures as well.I just love the sound of a solid v8. Good luck with whichever way you choose.

Yeh I know what your sayin. :banghead Im doing everything they asked for (and then some) and plan on going to Sea Shelf Engineering. I know of 2 V8 cortys they have engineered that passed inspection. Im hoping that once the engineer gives the nod and signs off on it the pits wont want to contradict. everything else will be up to grade for a normal inspection ball joints tie rod ends ect so its just emissions.
