k frame 4cyl v 6cyl
« on: June 26, 2012, 10:14:24 PM »

hi all, new to this stuff, i need a bit of help! i have a 75 td ridgy 4cyl auto and want to put a 4.0l manual in it. my question is, is there a difference between the 4 and 6 k frames, cause ive seen other people do this conversion and by the looks of my engine bay and other pics ive seen,im worried that if i start cutting the old engine mount brackets off i might be left up shit creek with a f#@ked k frame, it seems that other ppl have done a 6-6 swap by there pics, thanks any help would be much appreciated

great idea for the conversion, i know someone who's done the exact same thing and it works well. the kframe is the same from a 4 cylinder to 6 cylinder in a td. u dont need to cut the engine mount brackets off as they unbolt so if u bugger it up just grab another pair and bolt them on. u will however need to chop out your radiator support panel to take the 6 cylinder radiator and move your transmission mountings in the tunnel.

i can give u the 6cylinder mounting brackets to weld/bolt on if they're different to the 4 cylinder. if u'r in high wycombe perth then i'm only up the road in gosnells.
