Wreaking 77 TE Ghia
« on: June 30, 2012, 09:31:22 PM »

Hi guys,

Due to a bad condition of Auto cancer, I am wreaking one of my TE Cortina's as there is now more rust then healthy metal.

Ive pulled a few parts off for my TE GL (Lights, steering column stalks and dash cluster) but most of the other parts will not be that useful to me as the Ghia is bog stock standard, where my GL will not be when I can get it back together.
The interior has had a hard life, cracked dash, faded seats and door trims, and a few holes here and there. It has front foot vents and retractable rear seat belts which I already have in my GL so I have no need for them. The vents come in handy in Summer if you don't have air conditioning.
Bumpers and tow bar are in good condition as well, no dings in the bumpers that I am aware of. The centre caps of the Ghia mags are also present, two are in good condition, the other two have some dents/scratches in them from the previous owner.

Mechanically the engine was perfect, was only retired due to not passing Road Worthy with the severe rust in the usual areas and under the rag top where it looked like someone slashed it and the material had been replaced. The sump pan is stuffed, has a bolt in it from where it had being crushed in and pulled back out near the oil pump.

Due too time constraints I will only have the car till the 8th of July, then she goes to the big wreaker in the sky.  :(

If there are parts anyone wants, I'll be happy to pull them off and post them (where possible) for a few dollars towards the GL's rebuild. Just send me a PM and I will get back to you as soon as I can (most likely same day within a few hours).

I'd like to see its usable parts go towards helping other Cortina's keep living on where possible, but I don't really know how usable some of it is. Doesn't hurt to put it up on here and make sure though.

Best regards,
Dan

Hello Dan,
Story of my life, always to late. Did the Ghia have a centre console? if so did you keep it, or did it go to the wreaking yard in the sky. I live in Albury and just come back from a trip to Dorrigo (near Coffs Harbour), another disapointing factor.
I want it for my TD. I know that it will fit.

Hi Ian,

I still have the car at the moment. Weather and prior commitments have slowed me down on doing anything with it.
The rear section of the centre console just needs a re-spray and the cushion to be re-covered, the front section has some cracks and bits missing from someone installing a CD Player.

If your still interested in it you can have it for postage costs, ill have to organise a box and get a quote for you if you are.
