My TC XL Cortina 250
« on: November 18, 2012, 10:27:27 PM »

I bought this about 6 months ago and have redone the whole interior. I Had the seats redone in Ford Saddle Basketweave material and replaced the carpet with Deluxe Loop Ford Saddle also after i added Dynamat to the entire floor and behind rear seat and parcel shelf. I wanted to keep the interior looking fairly stock. I replaced the shifter Handle with a woodgrain version that are really rare and repainted and replaced the rubber in the selector surround. I replaced the steering wheel with a woodgrain saas and sourced a new centre console and i retrimmed the lid and handbrake boot myself. I replaced all the seatbelts also Ford Saddle colour and sourced new stickers for the buckles and new hangers from Ford Muscle Parts. I have also replaced all the exterior lenses with NOS Parts. I also added new venetians to the rear window after having the window polished and all scratches removed. The Engine is a 250 Pre crossflow with a mild cam and port and polish with Extractors and custom system.

Dynamat added before adding carpet. Used sealing tape for every join.

Thanks. After seeing the green tc being done up by tc4me it got me interested once again. I said to myself i wouldn't get another one but i couldn't help it..lol. I was actually looking for about 17 months for a good one to start with. I went over to Qld a couple of times to check some out but ended up coming across this one in Adelaide. It is a 2 owner car. The previous owner hardly ever drove it and it came with every receipt and books, sales brochures etc from new. Paint is all original except for some touchups. It's definately been garaged it's whole life. When i replaced the carpet there wasn't even any surface rust or anything on the floor. Still got some more parts to put on it like NOS winder handles and chrome strips for the doortrims..Definately keeping this one even though i have had a few offers already..

If you have trouble finding a 2v there is a option of milling off the manifold from the 1v to except the 2v manifold.  Or I believe I read somewhere that an alloy version is available from the U.S.

I have heard of a 2v motor and might check it out soon. I might buy a complete motor and go full on with it and then drop it in. I've already got an excellent 2V Inlet manifold that looks near new that i picked up for $200 from QLD when i went up the at xmas. I could have gotten a 2v head from the same guy but due to my mobile having no reception due to vodaphones terrible network up in Qld i couldn't get into contact with him in time and missed out. It was only $520 and was apparently in excellent condition also...
