Td master cylinder advice needed
« on: February 16, 2013, 05:21:42 PM »

Hello all, looking for a new hydraulic brake cylinder for my '75 TD, I can get the pbr one but it has a dirty big PBR logo cast into it, the cars pretty original and that's gonna shit me every time I look at it.
The old casings still good so can you get a re-kit for them, can't find anything on the net or everyones favourite auction site?
Worst case I'll dust off my porting tools and see if I can shave it and re-stipple it to look like a proper one
just thought I'd check it out first before I shell over the cash for a new one, stick it in the vice and take to it......

gday mate. just had mine done at brake pro here in bathurst. 170 bucks with a stainless bore insert, most of that age would have pitting , best option is stainless an safer.

Cheers guys, found a place fairly close that'll do the cylinder, sorta spiralled out of control from there :) Decided to re-face disks disks/drums and doing the vacumn booster whilst I'm at it.... New front hoses, pads, and rear cylinders should be at my parts shop by the weekend.
Stoked she should stop like a bought one.......
