1968 Cortina Mark II - Restoration
« on: February 02, 2014, 03:20:07 PM »

I own a 1968 Cortina Mark II 240 2 door with Bucket Seats and 4 speed floor shift.

The original colour was Sunrise Bronze and has been resprayed a similiar colour since.

It has been in our family since 1982 (32 years) and I am looking at finding someone who can restore it.

I live in Melbourne.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Depends how far you want to go with the resto?
If its a easy paint and freshen up or a complete resto (back to bare metal motor rebuild gbox, diff, ect, ect. my GT mk2 is now in excess of $10,000 and stillgoing bit by bit.  O0:

Thanks Brian! I have decided to fix up the car mechanically, nothing fancy but enough that its a reliable decent car. At the moment I have to start the car every 2 days otherwise the battery is dead. The dipstick is broken so there is no way to measure the oil level, there is a bit of an oil leak, the indicator feels like it about to break off, etc.
I might have a friend who is interested in helping me with the labour of it all, so I might only have to pay for parts, which makes a difference to costs of running this car. Its a sentimantal thing and it would be great if this car can relive its hay day.
