well i thought i''d get the ball rolling here.

most of you''s already know me and what cars i have(if you dont they are here: http://www.spyderbyte.com.au ). this is the new one in the stable. it''s a registered v8, with a shagged c4 and it''s on gas. it came complete with the small dent in the photos, every panel keyed, some nasty rust in places, all four brakes metal on metal and an oil leak caused by someone dropping the engine against the crossmember and cracking the sump. apart from that sometime in it''s life someone has spent shitload of money on it and it was only $800 so i couldnt let it go.

first things first i had to sort out the brakes. that was a no-brainer and then onto fixing the dent.

i unstitched the front end of one of my wrecks and welded it on to the v8.

2nd. cos i''m from the old school where we never had neons or 45 inch rims so i went for a bit of old school old man"bling". i saw a set of cheap NOS PJ straight cut timing gears. call me old fashioned but couldnt help myself.

hopefully this weekend i''ll take it back to metal, sort out the rust and in a cupla weeks it''s going to the painters.

after that, i remove the fuel tank and fuel system cos it doesnt work anyway. fit a set of extractors i got for it and make up a mandrel twin system for it and joila it''ll make a good tow car for the 2dr.

i''m also umming and arring with the idea with a 347 stroker kit but i dont know if my mixer will cope.

all of this is at the expense of black betty, you can see her in the background waiting for shed space. she sits out in the rain screaming at me to spend time on it to sort out the injection i put on it - but thats another "update" thread i''ll do in a few days.

Not bad for $800.

Dunno about the idea of using a Cortina to tow another Cortina, I didn''t think that was legal.

I haave enough troubles towing a Cortina with a Falcon.

i''ve never heard of any restrictions regarding what car i can use to pull a car trailer.

thats the excuse i use to justify to myself why i need another money pit. that and i miss the note of having a v8 - even if it''s a slug

Nice corty
Stole it from a bloke for 800bux.....
Awesome. Hope we are going to see a lot more of it here on the website.
And i do not mean car theft.

Regarding the trailer, in Qld we have to sign on the rego slip that the car wont be used to tow anymore than 750kg, Is that right markZe, i just signed it last week, but cant say i''ve ever read what it said. Maybe its a lil higher.

Yeah all cars have a factory rated towing capacity which you should not exceed.

As a general rule you should not tow much more than the weight of the tow vehicle.

I.e Cortina = 1350 kg

So the weight of the trailer and the car being towed should not exceed that weight.  Really a Cortina should only be towing a car that weights about 800-900 kg once you allow 300-400 kg or so for the trailer.

the love affair with V8''s has always been there especially now that i have one again. this thing doesnt go all that hard(black betty would have it for breakfast) but it goes with style, note and character. :D
