MkII 2 litre conversion
« on: July 03, 2015, 09:30:32 PM »

Anyone out there done a 2 litre Pinto conversion into a MkII. Seems to be a height issue and a few others. Any help, info, tips would be greatly appreciated.

There's some pictures of a pinto in a mk2 on pages 2 and 3 in this album. You can see the mounts on page 2.
Haven't done this myself but I would see if the mounts you have will work, if not sit it in the bay where you want it and either modify the existing mounts or fabricate new ones.
The ones in the photo look like factory ones to me.

Thanks for the pics. Yep already working on the engine mount mods but with the engine sitting down as low as possible it looks very close to being at the top of the bay. Oil filter also seems to foul on the mount brackets so a bit of jiggling required. Just wondering if there was something I am missing to make it work a bit easier.

Sounds like you have it sorted then.
I just run a straight edge on top of the guards and allow, I'm guessing about 40mm  for the bonnet strengtheners to check for clearance .

Hey mate, thats my car. I didnt do the coversion though. Has stock engine mounts Im pretty sure. No room for mechanical fan with the engine in though. I have a thermo at the front. Also to remove the starter u need to undo the engine mounts & jack the engine up a bit. I gotta start coming back here more.
