« on: February 26, 2008, 12:14:57 PM »

hey guys, im new to cortinas but i really like them... im after a TC i think, i want one with the round headlights not square so am i correct in wanting a TC? i have a 250 2v to put in one and im just wondering will all the tc take the 6cyl or only some models that came out with 6cyls be able to take another 6cyl???

i want to build something very similar to the one in this months issue of street fords magazine but with more stock interior, it will be a daily driver (when i find one)

also if any one has a good cond tc for sale please pm me or email me at hsv_boy_07@hotmail.com

yeah tc 6 cylinder has the twin round lights up front (4 in total).

tc came out with a 6 cyl. 250 pre-crossflow, so your 250 2v will bolt right in, provided it was a 6 cylinder car previously. if it was a four it can still be done but with a little greater difficulty.

maybe i'd look at getting a tc with a 6cyl. pre crossy in it already and put your 2v head on that (unless your motor is rebuilt, or you have some other special attachment to it etc)

either way good luck mate!

G'day,
I think from memory, all TC's from '74 were the same for manufacturing purposes.  I think you'll find the 2V manifold will just interfere with the booster, requiring you to shorten the booster bracket slightly, otherwise, bloody good swap.

Colours? Wild Violet, Redpepper, a Lime Green, a metalic green (like Zircon Green with a bit more yellow), Ultra White, Cosmic Blue (?) and basically anything available on the Falcon, Fairlaine, and Escort at the time.

I know these vehicles as I sold one to my father in Dec 73 (XL 250 toploader), which I still own (with 85000 on the clock). Trim was Parchment, Saddle, White and Black vinyl. Cloth was optional on the L and XL (hounds tooth inserts where the wicker effect is on the vinyl and standard on the XLE which had brushed nylon over the entire seat faces.

If you need anything else, I have a factory manual that I can email sections of to you.  This is my fifth Cortina and third 6 pot.

Give me a hoy if I can help at all.

Regards,

Royce
