To good to wreck
« on: August 10, 2008, 09:29:10 PM »

I went to look at a TE sedan today for a few parts to get new motor going into my wagon. I got there and it looked wery near rust free so to good to wreck so now I am tossing up on to put new motor in it or wagon now. Its 4.1 auto sound alright. its stock as even has air con that works not super cold but enough. Little bit of rust in passanger side lower doors and rear wheel ache, but the rest is rust free. its not lic but if I pay it soon I can relic with out inspection, lucky the owner had not handed in plates yet.

The pics titled TE

Hey Braddy, it's coming up with page not found when you click on the link. Any chance you can fix it ? It is not unusual for Corty's to be rescued from wreckers yards and it gives you a good feeling knowing you have saved it from being crushed. Go for it !

Well I have got old motor and box out stipped diff down for a rebuild and 3.7/1 4 pin mini spool to put in. Fitted a trans cooler and a 10" thermo fan at front, Got a 16" thoermo for behind radiator. Removed aircon system too I was going to leave it in but a pipe splite and gas leaked out so it had to go. The new motor is here but getting sump worked on to make it bigger to hold more oil. Need few more parts but dont have the money till start working agian.

Also not sure how to get pics up in this site. any help?

Last two shot are of system I am going to use. 3" from extractors to muller then 2 1/2" from muffler to rear. When at track take the cap off muffler for a straight through system.

Someone took that to the wreckers       . I cannot imagine what would be going through a persons head that would think that is only worth taking there. You have done well no wonder you jumped onto it, good work !! and keep the pics coming. Did you get it fairly cheap from the wreckers ?

I bought it out of paper. I only wanted it for the sump and pick up and maybe a couple other part. It was out of lic but still had time to pay it, so pay that the next day. took it to workshop put up on houst had a good look at it and found it very little rust in body. The floor is near perfect.

Today mounted a carter fuel pump off the spare wheel well, fitted a 10" thermo fan in front and using a 16" behind if it fits between motor and radiator. Got new bearings on the 3.7 mini spool centre (found that it was a later model 4 pin centre too)

The cooler is on the piss a bit but just so the hoses will fit.

I am about to order a selection of speco gauges so I know whats going on under the bonnet.

UPDATE
Motor and box are in wired up. Still need to do a few final things. Exhuast, trans cooler lines, rest of the fuel line, radiator. It sit very high with those wheels need lower profile tyres and lowered springs. Its taken a bit longer than I wanted but its getting there.
