OMG!! I GOT A TE
« on: September 18, 2009, 10:21:19 PM »

Found a near perfect TE the other day and couldn't wait till the weekend thinking someone will snatch it before me so I went and bought it. Built March 1980. Engine is 3.3 litre, with 3 speed manual!! Interior is basically spotless. Owned by some grandpa most of its life. The whole car is all original except for the tacho someone put in. Basically rust free which sold it for me. Drives alright for a 30 year old car. Not a big fan of the 3 speed manual though. Suspension feels a bit like a boat. Probably has the original shockers. Overall I am heaps happy, having found exactly what I was looking for.
Now I am open to suggestions on mods to do to it. I have decided to keep the interior as original as possible. Will even keep the original radio, which is AM only, and the dash mounted speaker at the front.
The exterior will not remain original as I want to lower it as soon as possible, put some big wheels on it and do something with the engine. Have a rebuilt 250 x-flow lying around which I am planning to put in. Also have a T5 lying around and want to make use of that too. Planning extractors, Holley, cam and some work on the head. That is about it, will post some pictures of the grandpa cruiser when I take some.

Yep, very much original. Will have to come out though. I don't really like driving 3 speed manual.

Are you going with a 4 or 5 speed? My TE is an auto but I wouldn't mind going 5 speed but I really don't wanna mess around too much to fit one.
