Thanks TE. I can get a 4spd for it.
What about brakes etc. Were the 6cyl's 5 stud hubs?
I gather the front springs will need uprating too and the diff to a 6cyl job?

Hey I've done the same thing to my 1980 TE from 2.0lt to the 250 x flow back in 2001, I still have the same brakes and suspension. and have not had a problem with them. Though I did have to replace the diff back in 02 but have been fine ever since.

What tailshaft did you use for the gearbox?

Ya you will need a 6 cyl tail shaft.
Have seen a xy gearbox cross member used as well. Not sure if the 4 cyl one is useful.
the flange on 4cyl diff is differnt to 6 so can use a falcon one.
Front springs are same as falcon as well.
With the 4 cyl diff it couldbe 3.5 or 3.7 sotake of will be good but not so good for long hwy drivng with stock 6 motor

Yeah the original tail shaft only lasted about 8 months then had to replace it with a 6 cyl tailshaft. I actually had a 4 speed Celica gearbox put in, to replace the 3 speed, had problems with gear shaft popping out at high RPM's so welded it down with a washer a 2 chains around diff, has been beautiful ever since (2002).
