Chrome Strips
« on: March 15, 2010, 09:43:43 PM »

Hey guys, Im quiet new to this web site, I only just knew about this site by browsing through the net. I have just recently 99% finished building a full engineered 302cleve TF 81 model Cortina & N.S.W rego on the road but the car is incomplete without the chrome plastic clip strips that go on the roof guttering & continue down the back where the vents are. Does anyone know where to get aftermarket new ones? Chasing second hand ones is a waste of time due to the age of the cars, the chrome chorks up & the plastic cracks when taking then off. Cheers :D

no aftermarket gutter trims available that i know of. how are you taking them off cos i dont ever remember the plastic coming off when removing them? i use a small hammer and bit of wood shaped into a wedge like aa doorstop and gently tap it off sideways the length of the trim.

if u can get a pair off without denting them you can get em reconditioned back to new by a mob in nsw called:

Problem Solved! Ive managed to find chrome guttering strips to suit the TF model by walking around the weckers for hours, not plastic ones but real stainless steel. There is one 80's model car out there that has the profile almost excatly the same as the TF including the curve on the front pillar. The car was a 85 model Toyota Corona & with a bit of trimming with a small grinder on the back of the strip, it works perfect. I up load some photos of my car but they are old pics without the chrome strips, Ive got to get around some time to take some new updated shots.
