Hello! Im wondering if anyone can tell me a cuple of extra horse power options? I was thinking a flowed manifold? Does anyone know where to get something decent? Does victor brea make 6 cylinder manifolds?? haha! What sort of carby would be a good match? Also would larger valves and a port and polish be a waste of time? I have a fuel injected head from an s pak to turn into a naturally asperated motor. The botom end is beautiful, so any info would be much apreciated.. cheers!

Hi there,
Where you from? There are a few options you can go for. But it depends of how much $$$$ Your prepared to spend. If your not shy to spend the $$$.

1/ I would suggest to work on the ''s-pak'' injected head you have. Start by incresing the intake valve diameter (up 2 sizes), then exhaust (up one size). And have the head ported to accommodate this work.

2/ Get an aftermarket manifold, to bolt on. I think that  ''redline racing'' or ''yella terra'' still have an off the shelf jobby for that engine. but its made to suit a holley carby from memory. If not contact me, and I can build you a custom job. Or remodel a standard one to suit your needs.

3/ Cam - contact "Crane Cams" and get a nice mild cam off them (works wonders with all the previous work), or go to "Crow cams" for the same deal.

The above with a decend exhaust should make you smile for a while, so start with that in steps and see how you go.

Personally if your prepared to spend a few $$$, scrap the x''flow and run a 4.0L. They are heaps more fun.  :D  I did.

Good luck with it.

I would go a 3" exhaust with some pacemakers, a crow 14892 cam and a 600holley on a new redline(cain) manifold.

With the head, get a C1 or C2 alloy, get them to spend most of the time on the exhaust ports. Mine has the valve stem in the thing cut back and its been opened up a fair bit. Check the gallery for the pics.

The inlet ports are pretty good out the box.

With that combo on my car (with C4 auto) but i had a 14650 crow cam, mine made 122rwkw.

Thanks for that info guys! Im prepared to spend a little bit but not too much as this motor will be used for causing more smoke than wins from light to light. lol I will do the valves and get it ported, i will track down a manifold and a holly as well I think. I will post a cupla pics here and there as I go. I will do it over the next month or 2.. Could one of yas please tell me if the performance manifolds can accomadate the vacume stuff at all??  Mate can you tell me what kind of 4 liter?

Type of 4.0Ltr..... The Ford one, what else is there...(Sorry Dave, LOL). I used an Inline 6 out of the E series falcons. It made 137 rwkw straight from the wreckers. Obviously you need to do a few engine bay mods to make it fit in. Eg; engine mounts, intake manifold. Plus you will need either the factory ECU, or an aftermarket one to run the efi.

Hope that helps.

Goodluck

The one I got now is just as good.. Its a fuel injected 4.1 out of an s pak, extractors and that crap standard.. The fuel injection is crap though cause I cant work it.. lol Im not intested in sorting threw millions of dollars worth of ccomputer crap and billion dollar injectors that catch fire and melt cause I got the ones that are made in newzealand instead of the jesus brand ones that god made when I can just bolt stuff on.. What do you think?? I get electrocuted when I open the fridge let alone trying to tune that stuff. I may as well go hire the trailer now to take it to an auto sparky..

Yeah

Port work, The cam CortinaD suggested, extractors, 2.5" or 3" exhaust and a 350 Holley Carb and manifold will get you good results for a daily driver.  Good power to around 5000rpm.

Don't waste your money on bigger valves.  My cylinder head flows 389 hp with standard EFI sized valves.  The key is getting the seat cuts and valve angles right.  Your porint guy will do all of that if he is any good.

Playing with diff gears can get you a lot of gains.  Going to something like a 3.23 ratio and an LSD will really help get power to the ground.

A C4 auto and stall converter is the best way to make a car real quick off the mark.
