Four speed single rail gearbox

My gearbox in my TF 200 is noisy in the first three gears.  Fourth gear is quiet.

My guess is it's the bearings and it needs an overhaul.

So do I spend about $600 bucks doing it up, or should I upgrade to something better like a 5 speed?

Hey Pete

The 5 speeder from the Falcon - are you sure it will fit in the TF Cortina?

I'm thinking the the gear lever would not line up, that I'd probably have to punch a hole near the back seat so I could change gears

lol, probably need to open up the existing hole, but I'm not 100% sure on that, I can measure the length from bellhousing to shifter. the single rail will come up in the factory hole.

Cav, knowing how original your corty is, I would just recond your original gearbox... you can get t5s etc to fit, but unless you get the right shifter housing, you have to cut back towards the handbrake. Other option would be a Supra 5 speed, but you are looking at around $800 for a box plus $800 for a conversion kit unless you can find one that is complete 2nd hand. You would also have to make sure you get the one with the right stick position for a Corty.

Yeah, my TF has only done 85,000kms, so I think I will get it overhauled
