Cooling problem with my TC 250 2V
« on: March 12, 2011, 12:45:31 AM »

Hey everyone, have just got my TC working with a 2V 250. the prob is I have Air con and its getting hot. Does anyone know of a radiator/shroud set up that will help?? i was told original radiator and XD shroud will work but it wont. I cant get a bigger fan as it will hit the compressor.

Please anyone with a 2v cortina, with after market aircon let me know how its done.

Cheers

is it only getting hot when the aircon is on or all the time

at speed or in traffic

if its at idle it will be the fan /shroud
if its at speed it will be the radiator
if its all the time it could be thermostat or water pump or radiator

Its at Idle - with the air con - has a new original radiator. have tried to put a XD shroud on but will not fit with the compressor.  What other radiator / shroud can fit it?

i think the only corty that came with a shroud was the tf

id also consider the waterpump as a likley cause

If the TC has the same radiator at does the 6cyl TE, a VB etc commodore radiator will fit with some mods and on a slight angle. Just have to remove the locating pins on the sides at the top and make brakets for the pins at the bottom. Without the radiator on a slight angle it will foul on the bonnet. This way you can use one of those cheap eBay ally rads. Cortina ally rads are 700 and the commo 6 cyl are 300. If you want even bigger get the chev V8 into VB commo rad, they have the same in/out at falc 6 and extra core. HTH

I think the major issue is that I dont have a shroud, with out one sittin in traffic with the air con is always gonna get hot. So really need to know if anyone knows of a radiator/shroud combo that will fit.

im pretty sure the tf had an actual shroud

that should be straight bolt in tho being a 2v the fan could be in a slightly different spot compared too the crossflow
